What is a Community Kindergarten?

Are the teachers qualified?

Yes all Community Kindergarten teachers are employed by the Department of Education, and teach the same curriculum as school based kindergartens.

Do Community Kindergartens Cost More?

Mullaloo Community Kindergarten is government funded and supported by the Department of Education. The voluntary contribution is modest and the same as school based kindergartens. It is used to fund more incursions and also for extra materials to enrich your child’s kindergarten experience.

Do I have to be more involved in a Community Kindergarten?

Recent research shows that children whose parents are actively involved and supportive in their early education have all round better outcomes throughout their school lives. It is not compulsory to participate in the running of the Community Kindergarten, but it relies on strong parental support.

Can my child still get into the school we had planned even if its not linked?

Choosing a community kindergarten for your child will not affect your child’s acceptance or non-acceptance to the government school you choose in any way. The kindy your child attends is not a consideration when the school processes your application for pre-primary. You have a choice!

What about the transition to school?

Community Kindergartens facilitate a smooth transition to formal schooling. Our linked school is Mullaloo Beach Primary School and many of our children continue their education there. Students also transition to Mullaloo Heights primary school and Springfield primary school in Kallaroo.
